Event Summary: Conversation on Filipino boxing and liberation with historian Dr. Bernard James Remollino and community organizer Jean “JT” Teodoro. This kwentuhan will weave the story of the first Asian and Filipino boxing world champion, Francisco “Pancho Villa” Guilledo, with the current work being done by the Bayanihan Boxing program in the Bay Area.
The event will include a signing of Dr. Remollino’s new book with Bayani Art, Pancho Villa: World Champion, 1923, and a chance to learn more about JT’s upcoming works: Paper Trail of FREEDOM and Palestinian poet Sara Afana’s Unmuted Echoes of Peace.
Community organizers will be tabling their resources at the event. Food provided by Willie’s Catering and Restaurant. Boba drinks provided by Kapwa Kultural Center and Cafè.
