Narra Media: Baybayin Flash Cards
Francis Garcia, a Daly City native, founded Narra Media, a brand that blends art, education, and culture to celebrate Filipino heritage. By merging art, education, and culture through apparel, community workshops, martial arts, and uniquely designed educational tools Francis aims to preserve and reclaim the richness of Philippine heritage, especially parts that have been historically erased.
From Disconnection to Discovery
Growing up in the Bay Area, Francis didn’t have access to many resources that reflected Filipino culture or history. Now, through Narra Media, he aims to change that. “We started the business to give back to the community and showcase our culture through our work,” he shares. Their Baybayin Flash Cards are an educational tool based on the ancient pre-colonial Philippine script, dating back to 1000–1200 AD. Each deck includes 63 vowel flash cards that help learners reconnect with their roots through language and history.
“As a BIPOC creator, I use my background to shape my art and business to educate, entertain, and give pride to those who, like me, didn’t grow up knowing or loving their identity.”
Honoring Heritage Through Community and Creativity
For Francis, connecting with Kapwa Kultural Center is more than collaboration—it’s community. “KKC is such a beautiful space. We’re proud to share our Baybayin Flash Cards here,” he says. Narra Media’s mission aligns with KKC’s commitment to cultural preservation, community wellness, and education. With family roots in Manila, Pampanga, and Ilocos, Francis carries his ancestry into every creation, inviting others to explore and celebrate their Filipino/a/x identity.
At Kapwa Kultural Center, we’re excited to carry Narra Media’s Baybayin Flash Cards as a resource for both learning and empowerment. Francis’s work is a reminder that reclaiming our past is not only possible—it’s powerful.

At Kapwa Kultural Center, we recognize that community thrives when we support one another—not just in words, but through intentional collaboration and shared space. Our vendors are a vital part of that vision. They bring color, culture, and creativity into Kapwa’s everyday rhythm, offering goods and experiences that reflect our collective values.
Through this blog series, we’d like to dedicate time and space to celebrate the amazing vendors who bring their passion, products, and presence to our community. Whether they’re serving up handcrafted goods, apparel, books, or showcasing art that speaks to our shared roots, each vendor adds something meaningful to our collective story.
