Online Certification Course

Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to:

  • Identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adolescents ages 12-18.

  • Build skills and confidence you need to reach out and provide initial support to young people who are struggling.

  • Connect youth to appropriate support.


Who this course is for:

  • Adults who work with youth ages 12-18

  • Adults who are caregiving/parenting youth ages 12-18

  • Participants must be 18 years or older to register


Course Format:

  • There are 3 parts to this certification course:

    1) Participants are required to take a 2 hour online self-paced introduction module prior to the two Zoom sessions

    2) Zoom Session 1: Monday 9/29 at 3-6pm PT

    3) Zoom Session 2: Tuesday 9/30 at 3-6pm PT


At the end of the course you will get:

  • Certification for Mental Health First Aid

  • Certification is good for 3 years


Cost:

  • Certification Course value is $170; thanks to funder support we can offer it at a suggested donation of $35.

  • No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Registration:

  • You must complete both steps in order to register:

    1) Register for Zoom sessions here.

    2)Complete suggested donation of $35 here. Choose an amount that aligns with your current circumstances.

  • After registration process is complete, expect an email with more information within the next 24 hours.

About your Facilitator:

Christi Morales-Kumasawa is Co-Founder and Director of Operations at Kapwa Kultural Center and Cafe. She has been facilitating Mental Health First Aid certification courses for 6 years and is passionate about helping others achieve wellness, which is why she pursued a mental health career in 2016 — after being a journalist for almost a decade.

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, she’s provided trauma responsive, culturally attuned, and neurodiversity-affirming therapy: incorporating modalities such as EMDR, somatic work, mindfulness, expressive arts, and play therapy.
